This design is the final result of a competition promoted by the Logroño Council for the design of a bridge located in an urban area with an enormous architectonical and environmental value. Arenas & Asociados proposed an arch bridge with 120 m of main span, and concrete deck.
The transversal section of the deck is similar to the one of the Prince of Asturias Bridge, with a central box beam accompanied by precast hollowed cantilevers at both sides.
The deck’s depth is constant to facilitate the construction procedure, launching it over provisional piers.
The arch arises from the ground through two concrete elements to become a single metallic arch over the platform, which is only 6 m high, looking for a minimum visual impact for the surrounding buildings.
The deck is held by the arch through a stays system anchored every 4 m, being the global view a serene and a pure silhouette.
