DESCRIPCION
This bridge is built over an entrance motorway to Madrid without disturbing the busy traffic. The bridge consists in two lateral concrete cells built with a false-work, and a central part composed of elevated steel arches with deck girders of composite cross-section. Statically, the bridge is composed of an arch bridge with plastic hinges in its bases. Arise with a solid concrete strut which connects with the deck, to turns into the arch pedestal subsequently, offering to the steel the support area from which the arch can be developed.
The vertical stays, rhythmically spaced about 5 m, are made of steel profiles that arise, like an embedded piece from a longitudinal groove at the bottom of the arch.
In addition to its clean and practical construction procedure, this bridge composes an elegance image in one of the main entrances to Madrid, where its white and slender arches act as a truly gates to the city.
Its interest is also in the forms of the lateral cells, with their robust but streamlined V-shaped struts, the transverse prestressed beams that link up the girders of the deck and the transversal nabla-shaped beam that connects the concrete strut's heads.
The elevated steel arches rise from pedestals of concrete and separate the pedestrian sidewalks from the traffic lanes.
The deep grooves of the arches are convenient from a structural point of view, also improve their visual appearance.
